Q: After 3 miscarriages, is there still a chance of getting pregnant again?
A: For women who have experienced multiple miscarriages, is there still hope of becoming pregnant again? As I always tell my patients, as long as there is hope, there is still a chance of pregnancy. However, pregnancy requires careful planning and guidance from experts. Most patients who experience recurrent miscarriages, more than twice, may have an underlying condition, such as autoimmune disorders or abnormalities in the uterus, like polyps or fibroids, which can cause recurrent miscarriage. Another reason could be genetic abnormalities in either partner, where they are carriers of chromosomal issues, leading to abnormal embryos.
Therefore, I recommend that patients who have experienced repeated miscarriages undergo a thorough check-up to identify the root cause. Once the cause is identified, we can plan appropriate treatment to prevent further miscarriages.
The symptoms of miscarriage vary between individuals. Some may experience severe abdominal pain and bleeding similar to menstruation, while others may have no symptoms at all until they have an ultrasound during a routine check-up.
