Struggling with infertility and not sure who to talk to? Get a free infertility consultation at Beyond IVF!

Infertility is a major concern for many couples. Some have been trying for years without success, while others face decreasing chances due to age. If you suspect you may be experiencing infertility, it is important to consult a doctor as soon as possible. Take advantage of our free consultation to explore treatment options and find the best solution for you.

What do you get from a free infertility consultation at Beyond IVF?

At Beyond IVF, we offer free infertility consultations for those concerned about their ability to conceive. You will have the opportunity to speak directly with a specialist in infertility treatment at no cost.

The consultation begins with a discussion about your medical history and any previous treatments. The doctor will ask whether you have undergone infertility treatments before or had surgeries such as uterine or testicular procedures. If applicable, you will be asked to provide medical records, as every piece of information is crucial in assessing potential causes of infertility. Family history is also considered, as genetic conditions and hereditary infertility issues can impact fertility.

Understanding the concerns of both partners is essential. Every couple faces unique challenges, so the doctor carefully evaluates each case individually to determine the most appropriate tests and treatments.

After an Infertility Consultation: What Are the Steps for Infertility Testing?

After an Infertility Consultation: Steps for Infertility Testing

Infertility Testing for Women

The initial infertility evaluation for women includes an ultrasound scan to examine the uterus and ovaries for any abnormalities. This helps determine if there are conditions such as uterine fibroids, endometriosis, or blocked fallopian tubes. This internal examination is straightforward and allows the doctor to visually assess the reproductive organs.

However, infertility issues can be more complex. In addition to the consultation, a blood test is recommended to check hormone levels and ovarian function. This helps determine if the ovaries are still producing eggs as expected for the woman’s age. In some cases, premature ovarian failure may be detected. Once the basic tests are completed, the doctor will evaluate the most appropriate treatment options.

Infertility Testing for Men

For men, the primary test focuses on semen analysis to assess sperm quality. This includes checking sperm count, concentration, motility (movement), and morphology (shape).

If the semen analysis results meet standard criteria, it suggests that infertility issues may not be related to the male partner. To prepare for a semen analysis, doctors recommend abstaining from ejaculation for at least 5–7 days before the test.

If Infertility is Diagnosed, What Treatment Options Are Available?

Infertility Treatment Options

  1. IUI (Intrauterine Insemination)
This method closely resembles natural conception, but with medical assistance. The doctor prescribes medication to stimulate the ovaries, encouraging the growth of multiple mature eggs. The strongest sperm are then selected and injected directly into the woman’s uterus, increasing the chances of fertilization. IUI is a cost-effective option for couples seeking infertility treatment at a lower price.

    Success rate: 10-15%

  2. IVF/ICSI (In Vitro Fertilization / Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection)
This advanced method is an improved version of the traditional GIFT procedure but offers a higher success rate without requiring abdominal surgery. It involves injecting hormones for 10-12 days to stimulate egg production. The mature eggs are then retrieved and fertilized with sperm in a laboratory. The resulting embryos are cultured before being transferred back into the woman’s uterus for further development.

IVF/ICSI is highly recommended when physical infertility issues are diagnosed. However, ICSI tends to be more expensive than IUI.

    Success rate: 70-80%

  3. Egg Freezing – Preserving Fertility Before Aging
Egg freezing involves extracting and cryopreserving eggs at a younger age to halt their biological aging, preventing deterioration over time. As women age, egg quality declines, making conception more difficult and increasing the risk of genetic abnormalities in offspring.

In many developed countries, infertility rates are rising due to delayed marriages and late pregnancies. As a result, egg freezing has become a popular trend among women who wish to preserve their fertility for the future.

For those who are concerned about infertility and are interested in fertility screening, it is recommended to visit a medical facility near you to consult with a doctor about infertility causes and diagnostic options.

If a couple has been trying to conceive for more than a year without success, it may indicate an issue with one or both partners. Identifying and addressing the problem early is essential, as untreated infertility can sometimes lead to more serious health conditions.

Once the cause of infertility is determined, the doctor can recommend the most suitable treatment to increase the chances of conception.

Body Mass Index calculator

Being overweight or underweight can reduce fertility, so it is important to keep your body weight within the normal healthy range.

Body Mass Index (BMI) is an indication of your body weight and can be calculated by dividing weight by height. You should aim for a BMI of between 20 and 25, as this will optimise your chances of conception.

Woman’s BMI below 19

Even in these modern times, nature knows best. If a woman's BMI falls below 19, the body senses famine and ovulation is switched off to prevent the risk of having a baby with malnutrition. Excessive exercise can reduce body fat and increase muscle mass to a point where periods cease for the same reason. Risk of miscarriage is also increased in women with a low BMI.

BMI’s greater than 30

This can reduce fertility by 50%. Pregnancy for women with a 30+ BMI is often associated with problems such as maternal diabetes, high blood pressure, big babies and increased risk of caesarean section.
