After waiting for 10 years to have a baby, Beyond IVF made it possible! The ICSI treatment with Dr. Ton

Previously, I had been trying naturally for 10 years without any success, which made me feel discouraged. So, I decided to turn to medical assistance and opted for IVF treatment. Today, I am 20 weeks pregnant! Beyond IVF had the opportunity to interview me about my feelings. How happy am I? Let’s find out!

Before you decided to undergo ICSI, what fertility challenges were you facing, and why did you decide to start ICSI treatment?

: I had been trying to conceive naturally for almost 10 years without any success, so I decided to try ICSI.

Why did you choose Beyond IVF and decide to treat with Dr. Ton?

: I came across Beyond IVF while searching on Google. I read a lot of information and success stories on their website. What convinced me to choose them was seeing a success case that was similar to mine, where the couple had been trying for many years without success. I decided to consult Dr. Ton after that.

Were there any steps during the treatment that made you feel nervous or scared?

: Honestly, there was no step that felt scary because Dr. Ton and the nurses were very friendly and informative, which made me forget about any worries. I didn’t feel nervous during any part of the process. However, if I had to choose, I would say the step of self-administering the egg-stimulation injections was a bit challenging

How did you feel when you found out you were pregnant?

: I was very happy because it's something I've been waiting for many years. Today, finally being able to have a baby, I'm extremely happy!

Now that you're 20 weeks pregnant, did you experience any nausea or complications after the ICSI procedure?

: I had morning sickness in the beginning. I couldn't eat much and was vomiting all the time. But after the first 3 months, things got better, and I was able to eat normally. So far, I haven’t experienced any complications.

Is there anything you'd like to say to Dr. Ton?

: I would like to thank Dr. Ton for making our family's dream come true. It’s not just us who are happy and waiting, but the whole family has been waiting for this. Thank you so much for helping our family be complete and more perfect.

Summary

ICSI is one of the steps in IVF treatment, where the egg and sperm are combined in a petri dish and cultured until they reach the blastocyst stage, then transferred back into the uterus to continue developing. Body Mass Index calculator

Being overweight or underweight can reduce fertility, so it is important to keep your body weight within the normal healthy range.

Body Mass Index (BMI) is an indication of your body weight and can be calculated by dividing weight by height. You should aim for a BMI of between 20 and 25, as this will optimise your chances of conception.

Woman’s BMI below 19

Even in these modern times, nature knows best. If a woman's BMI falls below 19, the body senses famine and ovulation is switched off to prevent the risk of having a baby with malnutrition. Excessive exercise can reduce body fat and increase muscle mass to a point where periods cease for the same reason. Risk of miscarriage is also increased in women with a low BMI.

Being underweight

If a woman's BMI falls below 19, the body senses famine and ovulation is switched off to prevent the risk of having a baby with malnutrition. Excessive exercise can reduce body fat and increase muscle mass to a point where periods cease for the same reason. Risk of miscarriage is also increased in women with a low BMI.

BMI’s greater than 30

This can reduce fertility by 50%. Pregnancy for women with a 30+ BMI is often associated with problems such as maternal diabetes, high blood pressure, big babies and increased risk of caesarean section.
