After 6 Failed Attempts, She Finally Conceived with ICSI by Dr. Ton at Beyond IVF!

At 45 years old, after being married for over 20 years, Pui had spent years trying to conceive naturally but was never successful. She had undergone ICSI six times at other clinics, but each attempt ended in disappointment. It wasn’t until she turned to Beyond IVF and Dr. Ton that she finally achieved her long-awaited pregnancy.

A New Hope at Beyond IVF

Pui first discovered Beyond IVF through Facebook reviews and reached out to the admin for more details about treatment options. She shared that she had undergone previous treatments at other clinics and still had her old test results. The admin advised her to bring all medical documents for her first consultation so that Dr. Ton could evaluate her case thoroughly and develop a personalized treatment plan.

Once she arrived at Beyond IVF, Dr. Ton carefully assessed her medical history and explained the ICSI process, the potential risks, and the chances of success. He reassured her, encouraged her not to lose hope, and designed a treatment plan tailored to her specific needs.

The ICSI Journey

The 7th attempt at ICSI began with ovarian stimulation, aiming to retrieve a sufficient number of high-quality eggs. Given her condition, multiple rounds of stimulation were necessary to obtain enough mature eggs. Once the eggs were retrieved, Dr. Ton used specialized techniques to select the healthiest eggs and the strongest sperm for fertilization in the lab.

To further enhance the success rate, chromosome screening (NGS) was performed before embryo transfer. This ensured that only genetically healthy embryos were transferred into the uterus, maximizing the chances of implantation.

The Moment of Truth

Everyone—the patient, Dr. Ton, and the Beyond IVF team—was eagerly awaiting the results. When it was time for her pregnancy test, the HCG levels were remarkably high! Without delay, Dr. Ton scheduled an ultrasound, which confirmed a visible gestational sac—she was pregnant!

A Dream Come True

After years of struggles and six failed ICSI attempts elsewhere, her journey at Beyond IVF finally led to success. The long wait was over, and she was ready to meet her little miracle.

Treatment Details

  •  ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection) – A high-precision technique using a special microscope to inject sperm directly into the egg, increasing success rates.

  • NGS (Next-Generation Sequencing) – A genetic screening test to ensure the embryo is free from chromosomal abnormalities before implantation.

Body Mass Index calculator

Being overweight or underweight can reduce fertility, so it is important to keep your body weight within the normal healthy range.

Body Mass Index (BMI) is an indication of your body weight and can be calculated by dividing weight by height. You should aim for a BMI of between 20 and 25, as this will optimise your chances of conception.

Woman’s BMI below 19

Even in these modern times, nature knows best. If a woman's BMI falls below 19, the body senses famine and ovulation is switched off to prevent the risk of having a baby with malnutrition. Excessive exercise can reduce body fat and increase muscle mass to a point where periods cease for the same reason. Risk of miscarriage is also increased in women with a low BMI.

Being underweight

If a woman's BMI falls below 19, the body senses famine and ovulation is switched off to prevent the risk of having a baby with malnutrition. Excessive exercise can reduce body fat and increase muscle mass to a point where periods cease for the same reason. Risk of miscarriage is also increased in women with a low BMI.

BMI’s greater than 30

This can reduce fertility by 50%. Pregnancy for women with a 30+ BMI is often associated with problems such as maternal diabetes, high blood pressure, big babies and increased risk of caesarean section.
